I like how you introduced that last bit. I missed it completely and had to go back and that was when I saw the bit with the ‘ear’. That was a good trick! I wonder just how many people had to stop and go back a panel to pick up on the subtle ‘hint’.
I noticed it immediately, but was wondering what it could mean before Nyna spoke about hearing something, then it made sense.
I wonder which specific insult had Nyna considering violence. My bet is when he started calling Kaylin a dark skinned pointy eared-. I can handle irritation towards insults aimed my way but insult my pets at your own peril
He started with insults “What happened to the guards that they let well-dressed beasts in” and escalated to racial slurs when Nyna or Kaitlin dared to retaliate.
Nina was “you dare, you rat-eared…”
And When Kaitlin, not naming names, started talking about tamed pigs wearing clothes and somehow walking on two legs, the earl turned around, somehow knowing it’s himself, and that’s when she called him an orcling, after which he started calling her a knife-eared, mud-skinned… before he was cut off by the Prime Minister and warned to shut his mouth, turning to apologize to “Princess” Kaitlin.
At which point the earl decided to force himself to believe he was being insulted for no reason and then force-fed wine until his drunkenness made him pass out.
