If anyone is confused – last time Kaylin was in Malichi she spent a day talking to a bunch of influential people off screen, and this is the duke she contacted before! So- yes, first time they have appeared in the comic, and yes- someone she’s met before between panels!

She doesn’t even need the silver tongue for that. Plain old threats of violence, with a simple demonstration by crushing something would do.
Seeing as how Kevin originally spec Kaylin for RP and diaogle I would be she has more than just Silver Tounge in her arsenal; I would expect she also has pretty strong abilitys to detect lies/deception and/or sense motive/intient.
Its a lot easier to con someone when you can read their reactions and know what levers to pull. Ypu can also gather (or at least infer) a supprising amoint of information from what people lie or avoid taling about during a conversation.without arrousing too much suspision or alerting them that they let a secret slip out.
I mean… When you’ve got literal gods at your beck and call. Also, gods who have intense opinions on child abuse… Kaylin has it covered here.
The author-box context that this was someone she met between panels is very helpful, as otherwise I’d have taken the ‘It’s been quite a while’ to suggest this might have been someone Kaylin met in her PC character days – i.e. before the Incident/time skip. Which would have implied a VERY old or nigh-immortal NPC for some reason!
