We’re not going to hold all humans responsible obviously, but we might as well double check which human kingdoms are allies and which are enemies. Neutral? You can never tell where their true allegiances lie…

Playing the game they all like to play—in a very unexpected way.
Familiar, yet terrifying. Hopefully they are too worried chasing their own shadows to notice the reality of the situation.
Sheesh, Genocide vs Genocide
I mean… If you neighbor is know to bare their teeth around and not afraid to bite heads off whenever they feel like it, just bare your own teeth at them when they come close. And show your your mouth is bigger…
Technically, one was trying to commit genocide of an entire species while the other was a counter offensive against a political group- which is not genocide with the current interpretation. Then, committing resources to diplomatic attempts with other nations to prevent further incidents. That’s honestly more good faith modern handling of the situation than you would probably expect from a world based on Medieval politics.
Multiple species actually, and I don’t just mean different breeds of monster- they DID commit genocide against the monsters, they were attempting to genocide elves. Really great people those guys. I only hope the civs didn’t know/support what was going on.
Nobody in Kaylin’s party wants to kill people, even regionally. They are uniquely suited to the task if they wanted though.
What they have done so far was a targeted strike against the governing body and active soldiers, while actively avoiding harming civilians, of an empire which had successfully wiped out nearly every monster in the region, was actively hunting elves, and wasn’t even particularly squeamish about indiscriminately killing other humans if they weren’t one of their own.
The two are not the same. Kaylin might be putting a bit of stink on the word “human” but she is playing a role, and it’s reasonable to check this kingdom’s temperament considering a probably ally of Tali(n)thar has already been active within this city.
Thailithar attacked the elves.
The elves retaliated, and wiped out Thalithars leadership.
They are now trying to determinate if the rest of humanity is likewise.
