Final panel, “far to proud” should be “far too proud”

Keep up the great work!

Keilia? If Yunn were to slap you in the face right now, few people would fault her. (At least I wouldn’t.)
And it’d still be the soft option compared to Correndel blowing his top because you put his existence in danger and deciding to really punish you.

She really isn’t the sharpest elf in the forest, is she? I would not be surprised if Correndel were to cut her off from his powers, were he to find out about this.

Maybe Correndel comes by and does it himself?

Correndel is established as being very lazy, that laziness being part of why this entire mess happened to begin with

He won’t get involved himself unless he absolutely has to

In fairness, Correndel needs to communicate better and prepare his speeches before he makes them.

He might, its just this time he probably was in a rush to avoid reports to upper manangement.

How long has she been the inbetween?
That is how long has she been the high priestess?

No, she just thinks she knows better and will lie because for her that’s okay.
I’ve dealt with people like this in real life.

I have to wonder: how did Keilia end up in this position in Correndel’s church?
Who thought it was a good idea to make her their god’s voice?
Was she appointed because all her fellow high elves are just as misguided, or because more conniving priests saw her as easily manipulated and a handy scapegoat if their schemes angered Correndel (or anyone else) ?
I’d hate to think she was appointed solely for her looks.

I’d wager she received the post because Correndel was lazy and picked the first high elf who caught his attention. Which I guess would make it looks.

But he wouldn’t have told her “Feel free to (re)interpret everything I say to suit your bias.”
Someone had to have trained her at one time, right? Seeing how Correndel automized his main job so he could be lazy, I doubt he’d have bothered to personally instruct his oracle.

A lot of people ripping on Keilia, but this situation looks more like Correndel’s fault to me. We did only hear about one of his messages, and possibly it is rushed, but from his appearances so far I would assume he has a tendency to ramble/talk to himself while doing these oracles. Plus he is probably the type to tell them to not make him look bad in official documents, hence the “only writing down the important parts.” Correndel is just reaping what he sowed here.

What an incredibly vague message! No wonder she had to try and interpret it! That could mean anything! /s

To be fair, it WAS confusing, if you don’t know the motivating events. That said, the actual directive is fairly clear.

Ohhh brother…I’ve a feeling that this is going to end with Correndel having to make a personal appearance and set the High Elves straight and he is NOT looking forward to that.

It might even be the making of him as a divinity…

I get the impression Correndel has been doing a bad job at communicating, and things have just gotten worse over time. How exactly that all went down is unclear, and likely not actually important.

Maybe he got an invitation to one of the lewd parties ?
Or, more likely, she’s been hornswoggled by a well meaning intermediary, with or without correndel’s blessing and direction.

Does Yunn tell her the meaning of the oracle, or does she get, “the Adventurer”, who actually spoke to her god to explain???

For all that Keilia didn’t write the oracle down, she’s got a pretty good grasp of what Correndel said. Even if the latter half sounds like he “left the mic on” or otherwise was coming up with it on the spot – not an organized/prepared god, that’s for sure. I wonder if he’s got some sort of regular ‘god-speaking time quota’ that he MUST meet per Ellisia’s ideal view of the World, and he’s just low-effort phoning it in – basically rolls out of bed, mumbles a stream of consciousness to Keilia, and leaves. That feels… a little too accurate.

Looking back, it’s worth remembering what Correndel said to Kaylin: “It’s not like I told them to! I just… complained a bit.” If his ‘complaining’ was similarly rambling or petty, I can very easily see it coming off as telling the High Elves to suppress worship of Lyrestra – which would mean Keilia is actually telling the truth and this really IS a big shift in tone from Correndel, not just the high elves taking advantage of the situation.

So now I’m speculating what kind of ‘complaining’ Correndel might have done to lead to this situation:
1. I’m too tired for this, those Lyrestra worshipers’ kept me awake last night and I couldnt sleep… (Translated – tell dark elves to minimize the ceremonies and keep them quiet)
2. Why do they get a big bonfire event and I don’t? The sun’s brighter than the moon, it’s not fair… (Translated – hide the bonfire behind walls)
3. Those dark elves praised Lyrestra ALL NIGHT LONG! Ugh, you don’t give me even HALF that attention during the day… (Translated – tell dark elves to praise Lyrestra only half as much, Correndel wants more praise balance his way)

Enough of this kind of rambling plus low-level envy/jealousy of Lyrestra’s worshippers and not only would Keilia get used to it as a communication mode, but it would certainly fuel the idea that Correndel WANTS to suppress the dark elves.

So she’s been lying about what her God has been telling her to do.
Typically that’s a death sentence I’d think. Surprised her own god hasn’t already killed her.

If they’re lying and misdirecting his people, then they’re not faithful. They’re deceitful.
Examples must be made, for people to know that you’re good and you punish the wicked.

It IS, however, a problem that needs to: a) be brought to his attention; & b) corrected (on both sides of the equation). It seems like the biggest issue is that Correndel isn’t paying enough attention.
