There are a lot of ways to enhance a build. You can give it more broad utility, you can increase mobility, you can go for damage, or go for control- the option of opening up a new Magic system is very tempting, but Kaylin is already being used as a Guinea pig. No reason to take the MOST experimental option. Kaylin picked the one she was most comfortable with, enhancing her already well honed skills and abilities. Still… Magic would have been really tempting if it weren’t such a scary option.

Probably Hand, since her Spell Theft and other abilities seem like Skill abilities. Now she’s stealing a magic adjacent supernatural attack. Or it’s flat out Ability Theft, not type restricted.
I wonder if her Sliver Tongue got a boost?
