This page has something special to it that I wanted to share with everyone. I’ve wanted to do a picture that is somewhat of an homage to one of my favorite fantasy pictures from long ago. One of the great artists of the Fantasy Genre is Clyde Caldwell. So the final panel is inspired by their artwork called Dragons of Despair. (Artist name and the name of the artwork are actually links- if you click them they take you to his art site and directly to the painting Respectfully ^_^)

Awesome. I recognized the name Clyde Cadwell, but couldn’t have told you who he was. I do however recognize his art. Dragonlance novels were my intro to DnD.

Said character suddenly got an incredible power boost. What does he do next ? Go on with his daily routine as if nothing changed ? Try to not show it off too much ? No !
Immediately go find or get challenged by another extremely powerful being and start fighting with him just “for the fun and heck of it”. XD

Clyde Caldwell, Larry Elmore and Keith Parkinson were the first great fantasy artists I knew from their D&D art back when D&D BECMI & AD&D 2nd Edition was a thing.
Caldwell’s covers from Mystara were striking and memorable.

I love how Lyrestra has managed to somehow skip answering the question about her enhanced change of figure by teeing up a dragon fight!
I’m also guessing Kaylin chose Soul out of the available ‘demigod/level 101+’ buffs, as she had talked about wanting more magic options (and her good magic control already) plus the phrase “new form of magical enhancement” would probably capture her attention as abilities that nobody else would have yet, and thus not be able to know about or counter yet.
Looking forward to this exhibition bout, with the caveat I hope it doesn’t end up consuming another of Kaylin’s lives just to build narrative tension by “oops, there goes your safety net for future encounters!”
