Looks like a sexist culture to me. There more than likely wouldn’t be any female guards. “Not a place for a woman” and all that.
Besides, there’s a practical reason to not have men and women in the same unit. You don’t want them getting distracted by hanky panky.

Nyna looks very uncomfortable in this page i know she was expecting her presence to end i a fight and all but she was so nonchalant about it at the time
i guess that might make things go over easier with the guards but everyone one they just rescued knows the secret though i guess they have reason to trust her and not out the “monster” that is wandering around their town

You know I never realized just how short their dad was until now.
